Magnesium citrate versus magnesium glycinate
Both deliver magnesium. Citrate is magnesium bound to citric acid. It dissolves readily in water, which is why it works well as a powder, and at higher amounts it is commonly associated with a laxative effect; some people choose it for that reason. Glycinate (bisglycinate) is magnesium bound to the amino acid glycine and is generally chosen by people who want to avoid that effect.
